Best RV Patio Mat Reviews

1. Camco 42858 Blue Chevron Outdoor Mat

This mat for camper measures 9-feet x 12-feet, which is big enough to use as a picnic blanket, a beach blanket, and of course, as an outdoor patio rug for your RV. You will have room for a couple of patio chairs and still have enough for kids to sit and walk around barefoot.

The entire rug is made of durable yet very lightweight synthetic materials. You can roll this huge rug or fold it into a more compact size for easier storage. When folded up, it will occupy the same amount of space that a pizza box from Costco can fill up.

The best thing about this rug is that it is completely weatherproof. This Camco RV mat will not trap water because it is made of breathable material. Also, because it breathes, it will not harm the grass growing underneath it. It does not retain water or any kind of moisture, too. With that, this patio rug can also resist mildew and mold.

Another neat thing about this best RV outdoor rug choice is that it is easy to clean. You just need to give it a good sweeping every once in a while to prevent dust and dirt from building up on the surface. If you want to provide it with an even deeper cleaning, hang it sideways using the loops at the corners.

Point a garden hose straight at it to knock off almost all the dust and dirt clinging onto this RV mats 9×12 solution. The usual complaints people have about this rug include the creases left behind because the rug was folded when it was delivered.

Do not worry too much about them, though. It is because these creases will eventually even out right after a couple of days. If you do not want the creases to come back, just roll the mat up before storing it away instead of folding it up again.
What We Like
  • Large size, making it fit multiple applications
  • Proven to be light in weight while remaining durable
  • Has anchoring loops at every corner
  • Easy to clean
  • Foldable for easy storage
What We Don’t Like
  • The material has creases that usually take a couple of days to remove.
Despite that, the creases will not be too much of an issue. Expect such a problem to be gone after a while. This product delivers on all its promises, and even exceed the expectations of some users, making it worth the try.

2. Reversible Mats RV Camping Mat

The feature that I liked the most about these polypropylene patio mats is that they are completely reversible. The design on either side of the carpet is quite beautiful. You can use either side whenever you want. If you get tired of the design, just flip it over again.

Another reason why I like this RV patio rug is that it is made of heavy-duty and lightweight virgin polypropylene. This synthetic material is water-resistant enough that its fibers will not even retain water for more than a couple of minutes. If you spill a glass of water over this rug, it will just seep through the tiny perforations.

These outside camper mats come packaged with proper UV rays protection, allowing them to survive extended periods of sun exposure. You can use them all day, and the sun’s rays will not fade nor damage the material in any way.

Because these outdoor rugs from Walmart do not absorb nor retain water, you can expect them to be naturally mold and mildew resistant. It means that it will only take a short while for this mat to dry completely even when you leave it soaking in the rain.

Just like with other outdoor RV awning mat options made of polypropylene plastic, the creases will take a while to go away. However, if you do not get easily bothered by the way it looks, then you will most likely not mind the fold lines at all.
What We Like
  • Boasts of its reversible design
  • Lightweight without losing its durability
  • Does not retain water and dries quickly
  • Come with UV-coating, so it is highly resistant to fading
  • Mold and mildew-resistant
What We Don’t Like
  • The rug has pesky fold creases that take days or longer to straighten.
This product is a top pick for RV camping rugs that your money can buy. Aside from keeping your RV clean, it also provides enough space where your kids can sit around.

3. Ming’s Mark GC1 Graphic Mat

The dimensions of these Ming’s mark RV mats make them the perfect complement to RV awnings, especially the bigger ones with 8-feet projections. You can lay one of these best RV outdoor mats options outside your RV, and it will be like you have an extension of your living area.

I am happy with the wave-print pattern used on this rug. This design uses several blue shades to give a relaxing feel reminiscent of waves crashing onto the beach, or the way wind flows in different and unpredictable directions. It is an excellent fit for an outdoor living space.

In addition, if you do not like the color contrasts on one side of the rug, you can turn these patio mats for camping over and use the other side instead. The other side has the same pattern, but the reverse colors are used.

It means that if you accidentally pour some paint on one side and cannot get it off, you can flip it over to have a perfectly stain-free surface again.

This rug, which is one of the best Ming’s mark products, is also porous, so it just lets any liquid spilled on top of it seep through and into the ground. Also, because the rug can breathe, it will not harm the grass underneath it.

The only thing that irked me about this outdoor RV patio mat 9×20 is that, in the product details, it says that it comes with its carry bag. However, when it was eventually delivered, the carrying bag was nowhere in sight. I tried to contact their customer service, but I discovered it is hard to get a straight answer.
What We Like
  • Long enough to use on all brands of RV awnings
  • Comes with a reversible design
  • Can breathe so grass underneath will not be harmed at all
  • Quick-drying and resistant to mold and mildew
  • Lightweight and folds to a compact size
What We Don’t Like
  • Does not come with a carrying case
Although it is a shame that this RV outdoor carpet did not come with a carrying bag as advertised, it does not take away the fact that this is still a good quality product overall.

4. Stylish Camping RH8187 RV Home Mat

The thing that I liked the most about this choice for RV rugs for outside is its whimsical and simplistic design. The message saying the home is where we park it is so symbolic of the RV life that any RV owner will be more than happy to have this rug.

I also liked this product because it is made out of lightweight and durable polypropylene material. Aside from the durability of the material, it is also effortless to clean. You just need to dust it now and then or point a garden hose at it when it gets dirty.

This outside camper rug is also UV-treated so that you can use it under the sun for extended periods. The UV-treatment prevents the colors from fading and the material itself from getting brittle and fragile because of sun exposure.

These RV camping mats are also breathable. It means that they are safe for use on grass surfaces. The porous mat will allow the grass underneath to get enough ventilation still while receiving just enough sunlight to thrive.

I only have one gripe about this outdoor mat, and it is mostly about aesthetics. Even though this mat is technically reversible, if you flip it over, the words will also be flipped over, giving you a mirror image. It would have been a perfect mat for a stylish camping RV home if not for this tiny inconvenience.
What We Like
  • Has a beautiful whimsical design
  • Made of lightweight and durable polypropylene
  • Does not retain water and dries quickly
  • Easy to clean and maintain
  • Foldable for easy storage
What We Don’t Like
  • Somewhat annoying to see the printed words also being reversed when reversing the rug
Although it is an unfortunate oversight of having the words come out reversed every time you flip the rug over, it does not take away the fact that it is still one of the best outdoor mats you can buy right now.

5. Reversible Mats RV Camping Mat

In my opinion, the best feature of this RV patio rug is how huge I can fold it down into a compact size, promoting easier storage and portability. It even comes with its carrying bag. It is not a small feat as it is an RV patio mats 9×18.

Even though this RV patio rugs clearance is lightweight, you do not need to worry about it blowing away because of the wind. If it is laid flat on the ground, it will not billow up. For added measure, you can also pin down the corners using ground stakes. It can ensure that the mat will not be going anywhere.

This mat has a beautiful, modern design that will most likely appeal to everyone’s aesthetics. It comes in color black, with a couple of shades of grey drawn in a swirling fashion. This rug is also reversible, so if you want a different look to your RV patio, just flip it over, and the same design will be uncovered, but with a different contrasting theme.

I also appreciate that this rug is easy to clean. You just need to give it a good sweeping every day or so. There is no need to vacuum as the dust particles will not get stuck in between the fibers of the mat.

If you want to give your western RV outdoor mats a good cleaning, just hose it down and let it air dry completely, which will only take around five to ten minutes. The only problem I had with these camper mats is that I noticed a couple of different spots on the rug where the weaving has already started to unravel.

I can say that those issues are not that big at all. I was even able to fix them with ease, but I did hope that I got a product in perfect condition as it was purchased brand new.
What We Like
  • Easy to fold and store away when not needed
  • Lightweight but will not blow in the wind
  • Comes with corner loops that allow the rug to get staked on the ground
  • Reversible design
  • Easy to clean and maintain
What We Don’t Like
  • A couple of spots on my new rug have threads that are already starting to unravel.
Although it was a shame that my rug did not arrive in pristine condition, it still did its intended job well, making it a worthwhile purchase.

6. Camco Reversible RV Camper Awning Mat

The best feature of this RV patio mat is the fact that it is made from polypropylene material. It is what makes this patio mat very weather-resistant. With the way the synthetic fabric is woven, rain and snow will just drain to the bottom and allow the mat to dry quickly.

Another characteristic of this mat is the ease of cleaning and maintenance. Unlike natural fiber materials like cotton and wool, water does not seep into the fibers, which means it will dry up quickly. It also means that it is naturally resistant to mold and mildew.

Another thing that I liked about this product is that the edges are double-stitched and the corners are reinforced using additional materials. Moreover, instead of fabric loops, the corners have heavy-duty, stainless steel grommets for anchoring the mat to the ground.

It works great for scraping away dust and dirt from the soles of your shoes so that you do not track mud inside the RV. It is especially useful when you have young children in the family. You will not be spending a good chunk of your holiday trip just vacuuming inside the RV.

The only issue that I have with this product is purely subjective. Unlike most of the other outdoor mats on this list, this one does not have any designs printed on it. You will only be getting a solid green mat.

If you like the minimalist approach, you should get this mat. However, if you want something that is a bit more visually appealing, you might not like this option.

What We Like
  • Made of lightweight and durable polypropylene
  • Water and snow just pass through the weave and into the ground.
  • Cleans the bottoms of shoes efficiently
  • Easy to clean
  • Constructed with durability in mind
What We Don’t Like
  • Very plain – It does not have any designs whatsoever.
This mat is as practical as it gets. Although it will not score a lot of points in the design department, you can rely on it to provide an excellent job of providing you with a comfortable surface for your outdoor living space.

7. AdvenGO 9’ x 18’ Reversi Mats

This product is a huge RV patio rug. It can even provide you with a good surface for your outdoor living space regardless of the size of your awning. At 18 feet wide and 9 feet deep, this mat will be able to fit almost all RV awnings available.

I like the classic yet timeless design printed on the surface of this rug. The brown and beige color combination is always a good pairing. It will match almost all design sensibilities. Moreover, this rug is also reversible, so you can get the reverse color scheme if you so wish.

This mat is made from durable polypropylene. It means that you can place your patio furniture on it without worrying about it ripping a hole. You can place a rocking chair or a couple of lawn chairs without needing to put a specialized padding underneath the feet of your furniture.

The reason why it is so durable is that it is almost twice the thickness of most other RV patio mats available. The synthetic fabric is tightly woven to provide durability. It also boasts of its reinforced edges by adding even more material and double stitching the seams.

Although this rug is designed in such a way that you can pin it down to the ground using the loops at the corners, it would have been better if the loops were reinforced. One of the loops in my mat has already gotten ripped off for no apparent reason. Also, the kit did not come with ground stakes. You have to buy it separately.
What We Like
  • Large enough for almost all sizes of RV
  • Comes in a classic design that does not go out of style
  • Boasts of a reversible mat design
  • Double the thickness of most other RV mats
  • Does not retain water and snow as it is completely weatherproof
What We Don’t Like
  • The kit does not come with ground stakes.
This product would have been a perfect choice for anyone, if not for a couple of minor flaws. If you are looking for a high-quality outdoor rug, then it is what you need.

8. Reversible Mats RV Camping Hunter Mat

I like the overall design of this RV patio rug. The flora and fauna designs bordering the rug make it look elegant. I discovered that it could even work as an indoor rug if you want. Just place a non-slip pad underneath, and it will look great in the living room.

Aside from the beautiful appearance, this mat is also entirely weatherproof. Because it is made of synthetic fabric, water will not pool on top, nor will it be absorbed inside the fabric. Water will just seep through the rug and into the ground underneath, instead.

This rug is also easy to clean. Because it is somewhat waterproof, all you need to do to deep clean it is to hose it down and let it dry. You only need to scrub it if there are any caked-on mud and tree sap on the surface.

Another neat thing about this outdoor rug is that it will not damage the grass underneath it. The mat will allow the grass underneath to breathe because it has thousands of tiny perforations that allow proper ventilation underneath. It will also protect the grass from your patio furniture.

The only complaint I have is that at just 6 feet x 9 feet, it is quite small. If you only travel by yourself or with one other person, then it would be fine. However, for small families, I think it is severely lacking.
What We Like
  • Has a beautiful design
  • Comes with a reversible design, which is useful when one side gets a bit too dirty
  • Completely weatherproof
  • Easy to clean
  • Lightweight, foldable, and easy to store
What We Don’t Like
  • Quite small at just 6 feet x 9 feet
Even though this rug is a bit on the small side, I still consider it a good rug. It is well worth the price, considering the numerous nice features it has.

9. CGear The Original Sand-Free Camping Mat

I can say that it is the first and original multi-purpose camping mat. It was initially designed for military use. The fabric is woven in such a way that sand and dirt will fall through the mat without going back up.

Also, because it was initially designed for military use, you can bet that it will last for at least a couple of years. This product is made of high-grade, heavy-duty materials that are UV-resistant, waterproof, and quick-drying. It also means that this mat is resistant to mold and mildew growth.

Another great thing about this product is that water and snow will not pool on top of it. Water will easily seep through the mat and into the ground below. It is the reason why it also dries quickly. If you happen to spill any liquid on top of it, you do not even need to wipe it off. It will dry up in just a couple of minutes.

Unlike other outdoor rugs, there are four heavy-duty D-rings sewn into each corner. It is much better and infinitely more durable than the fabric loops that come with other outdoor mats. You can secure the edges of this mat using ground stakes so it will not get blown away by the wind.

The only thing that I kind of did not like about this product is that it is quite easily one of the smallest rugs on this list. By far, it is also one of the most expensive. The biggest mat that you can get is just 12 feet by 12 feet, which might not even cover your RV awning area adequately if yours is quite big.
What We Like
  • Designed using a sand-free technology
  • Completely weatherproof
  • Does not retain water and dries quickly
  • Low-maintenance since it needs only minimal cleaning
  • Heavy-duty construction
What We Don’t Like
  • Quite expensive while still not big enough for some RV patios
It is understandable why this outdoor mat is quite costly. If you are looking for an investment that will last for many years with minimal upkeep, this mat is one of those you should consider getting.

10. BalajeesUSA 9’x12’ Indoor/Outdoor Rugs

I am impressed with the colorful stripes that run the entire length of this mat. The bright colors give life to any campground setting. It does not matter where you park your RV. Whether you are on the beach, lakeside, or in the desert, having a splash of bright colors to lighten the mood is always a good idea.

It is not just an outdoor rug since you can also use it inside. I even have a couple of these rugs at home – one for the kids’ room and another one to use when they want to play in the backyard. This mat provides a comfortable surface for anyone to walk on barefoot, regardless if it is indoors or outdoors.

Another thing that I genuinely like about this mat is that it is entirely reversible. It looks the same regardless of which side you are looking at. It means that when one side’s colors start to fade, you can flip it over, and it will seem like you have a brand new mat.

Another impressive thing about this mat is how low-maintenance it is. If any liquid is spilled on top of the mat, it will just pass through the weave and into the ground below as long as it is thin. You do not even need to wipe it off. Also, if anything sticky comes in contact with it, you just need to hose it down, and it will be good as new.

It would have gotten perfect marks if only it came in larger size choices. This item just comes in one size, 6 feet by 9 feet, which is okay for smaller RVs. However, if you have a 15-foot awning, it would seem too small, so you might get two.
What We Like
  • Comes in bright colors that make any camping site fun
  • Very low-maintenance
  • Highly resistant to fading
  • Boasts of a reversible design – Both its sides look identical.
  • Does not retain water
What We Don’t Like
  • Quite small compared to the other available outdoor rugs
Even though these RV ground mats are on the small side, they provide so many benefits that you should just buy two, so you will have enough coverage. For its low price, you can also easily afford two.

11. Camco Reversible Outdoor Patio Mat

I am delighted with the checkerboard design of this outdoor mat. It is a classic design that does not seem to go out of style. It does not matter what kind of patio furniture you use. It could be rustic, or just the practical fold-away chairs since they will all look great when placed on top of this mat.

Another great feature of this outdoor mat is that it does not trap rain or snow. Water will just flow through the weave of the mat and into the ground underneath it. Even sand will just fall through the hundreds of thousands of holes in the weave pattern of the mat. With that, it does not need that much in terms of cleaning.

This mat is also UV-treated so that the blacks and whites remain vibrant for years, even when exposed to the harsh rays of the sun for extended periods. If one side gets a bit faded due to the sun and foot traffic, you can flip it over and use the reverse side instead.

Even though this mat does not get dirty quickly, it does need a bit of cleaning from time to time. When the time comes that the mat gets a bit too dirty, you just need to point your garden hose at it, and all of the dirt and grime will get knocked off the fibers. You do not even need to worry about drying it.

Just drape it over your fence or laundry line, and it will be completely dry in just minutes. The only gripe that I have about this product is regarding the corner loops. The stitching that holds them in place is not that strong and tends to rip easily.
What We Like
  • Comes in a classic and always trendy checkerboard pattern
  • Made of durable yet lightweight material
  • UV-treated, so it will not fade under the sun
  • Does not retain water and dries completely in just minutes
  • Reversible, causing both sides to look perfectly identical
What We Don’t Like
  • The corner loops are not that durable.
The design alone makes this particular outdoor rug a worthwhile investment. The other features are just additional icing to an already great cake.

12. Snowbird Light Reversible Mat

If you are an avid RVer, you will appreciate the quaint printed design on this RV patio mat. It has a simplistic drawing of a teardrop trailer parked underneath a clear night sky. Not only is this rug practical, but it can also serve as a decorative piece.

This rug is made of durable polypropylene woven fabric. The plastic fabric is very resistant to stains, dirt, and dust. It also does not collect water. It will just go through the mat and into the ground. Also, because it is breathable, this mat will not do any damage whatsoever to the grass underneath it.

Moreover, this mat does not retain water. It means that it is not the type of environment that promotes the growth and propagation of mold and mildew. Fungi needs a moist environment to grow, and this mat dries up quicker than most other outdoor mats available.

Although it is quite a large rug when unfurled, you can fold it down to a compact size for secure storage. When folded down completely, the RV patio rugs clearance will not use up that much storage space.

There is one issue though that I wish that Snowbird Mats should address, though, and that is the weave of the mat is not that strong.
What We Like
  • Comes with an adorable graphic design printed on the surface
  • Made of heavy-duty materials
  • Highly resistant to water and stains
  • Does not harm the grass underneath it
  • Highly resistant to mold and mildew
What We Don’t Like
  • The weave is not that strong, and it is easy to unravel or poke holes through them.
Although the Snowbird outdoor rug has its share of flaws, it is still quite an excellent product.

Best RV Patio Mats Buying Guide

There are many reasons why one should get an excellent outdoor rug. Of course, you can find practical reasons, like providing a way for people to wipe the dirt off their shoes before going inside their RV. There are also aesthetic reasons, such as providing a refreshing splash of color to your outdoor recreational space.

To help you find the right rug for your particular needs and wants, here are some key points and factors to consider:

Size – The first thing to consider when shopping for a patio rug is the size. Consider the shape, too. You can choose from a myriad of size options as well as shapes of rugs. You can go for square, rectangle, and oval, among many others.

The mat also comes in different sizes, like the large ones that can cover the entire patio area, and smaller ones, like area rugs. You can put a smaller rug by the doorway of your RV, so there will be something that people can wipe their feet on before they go inside. You can also go for something bigger to accentuate your outdoor furniture.

Color and Design – If you are an avid RVer, you know how important it is for your outdoor space to serve just like an indoor living space. It is the reason why you also need to consider the theme of your outdoor furniture so that everything matches.

You can also try to color coordinate. Make a careful choice from the many design options currently available. Ensure that you spend time examining your many color options, too. That way, you can surely find something that will suit the rest of your RV’s outside décor.

Material Used – Another thing to consider when shopping for a new RV patio rug is the material used. Pay attention to the material used in making the rug. Consider the density of the weave, and the uniformity and tightness of the knots, also known as the pile.

Rugs with low piles are not as soft, but they do not hold onto dirt and dust quite as much. Among the materials used in making the mat are natural fibers. Rugs based on this material are made from all-natural and sustainable materials like hemp, seagrass, coir, and cotton. You can also find some made from bamboo fibers.

RV patio rugs made from natural fibers have a couple of distinct advantages. First of all, you will not have any problems with static electricity. The material is also very efficient at trapping microscopic airborne dust particles. If you have dust or pollen allergies, these kinds of rugs can help you a lot.

However, natural fiber rugs also have a couple of notable disadvantages. First of all, it is not entirely resistant to water and other forms of moisture. As such, the material is tough to clean. The material does not dry that quickly, too, causing it to become breeding grounds for mold and mildew.

Moreover, natural fiber rugs usually have denser and thicker piles that might feel rough on your bare feet. If you often camp out in locations that are slightly dry, like canyons and deserts, there is no reason why you should not choose natural fiber rugs.

However, if you camp in places near bodies of water, or areas where it usually rains quite a bit, this material will only cause a lot of hassle.

You can also go for synthetic fibers. If you choose synthetic fiber RV patio rugs, then one of the available options is polypropylene. It is one of the most popular synthetic fibers used in the manufacture of indoor and outdoor rugs.

Usually marketed under the name Olefin, this material is lightweight and can resist the sun’s bleaching effects. Best of all, Olefin is resistant to stains. If you usually camp in an area where there are muddy patches of ground, you will love using polypropylene. It is also one of the most affordable rug materials in the market.

Another synthetic fiber available for you is PET Yarn. PET (polyethylene terephthalate is a material made from recycled plastic bottles. Purchasing an RV rug made from PET yarn means you are doing your part to clean up the planet.

PET yarn is made from shredded up PET bottles, including plastic water bottles, milk jugs, and other plastic containers. Because this material is made from recycled plastic waste, you can consider it as sustainable and eco-friendly.

Rugs made from PET yarn are also highly resistant to dirt and stains. It will not fade when exposed to sunlight. Moreover, because PET yarn is water-resistant, cleaning it is easy.

Another of the most popular type of synthetic fabric material is nylon. Nylon is very lightweight, durable and will stand up quite well against heavy foot traffic. It is also highly resistant to food spills and mud.

There is also what we call artificial silk. Also known as art silk, this rather luxurious fabric closely mimics the look and feel of real silk fabrics. The downside is that art silk, just like the real deal, can be quite expensive.

However, if your budget permits it, and you like the feel of luxurious silk under your feet at a fraction of its price, you should give this material a try. Acrylic is also another fantastic choice. It is probably one of the most durable synthetic fabric materials currently available.

It also has substantial UV protection, meaning it will take a significant amount of exposure to the sun before its colors will start to fade. Aside from that, it is water-resistant, so it will dry faster.

This benefit also means that it is resistant to mold and mildew growth. Moreover, you can weave acrylic fabric in such a way that it will resemble cotton and wool. Another fantastic choice is microfiber. It is not a fabric material per se, mainly because it is a blend of different synthetic fibers, like nylon, acrylic, polyester, and others.

The actual ratio of materials used depends on the manufacturer. The great thing about rugs made from microfiber is that they are very lightweight. Aside from that, microfiber is thinner and much softer than the other rugs under the synthetic category. However, these rugs can also be pretty expensive.

RV patio rug prices – The adage you get what you pay for rings true when shopping for an RV patio rug. The inexpensive and downright cheap rugs usually have inferior quality. Meanwhile, a rather expensive rug is almost always well-made and of high quality.

However, there are times when you will stumble upon an affordable, yet very high-quality mat. Those are few and far between, though. You can find large rugs for around $50, maybe even lower. Those in this price range are usually the ones made from synthetic materials.

These rugs should have no problem scraping and trapping the dirt and grime from the soles of shoes before they leave tracks inside the RV. However, the designs and colors are quite limited, and the quality is only average at best.

If you are willing to spend a bit more, you will be treated to a variety of choices in rugs. Usually, RV patio rugs will not cost over $100, but you will be getting products that are superior in quality compared to the ones that you can buy for under $50. You can usually find good quality and large rugs in this price range.

Ultimately, it will depend on the size of the budget you set for yourself and your personal preference. However, I do urge you to go over $50 if you want a product that will last for far longer and provide more benefits compared to the cheaper ones.

How Many Types of Patio Mats for RV Are There?

Many different types of outdoor mats are currently out there that they will not all fit in this article. In most cases, these RV patio mats are categorized according to their size, function, materials used, construction method, and many others.

There are the natural fibers and synthetic fibers if you are thinking more along the lines of the type of patio mats according to the materials used in making them. One example of an excellent outdoor rug made from natural materials is coir. These fibers come from coconut husks.

This material is pretty durable and also has a certain degree of water resistance. Moreover, it dries up relatively fast.

Synthetic rugs, on the other hand, are made from manmade fabrics. It is the better choice for outdoor patio mats as they are more resilient to abuse. Furthermore, this material is easier to clean. It is the reason why these rugs are more in demand right now.

How Do RV Patio Mats Work?

RV patio mats help trap dirt and dust. It does not matter where you park your RV. Regardless if you are along the banks of a river, a lakeside retreat, or along the edges of a desert, having a good patio mat will mean that no one will be tracking mud around the house.

Patio rugs also work great on grass clippings, dried leaves, sand, and many other kinds of debris that your shoes pick up while you are outside. RV patio rugs significantly lessen the amount of cleaning that you need to do in your RV.

Because the patio rug already trapped most of the dirt and grime, only small amounts of debris will find their way inside the RV. With a good patio rug, you no longer need to spend hours vacuuming inside the RV.

How to Choose the Right Size?

In order to choose the right size rug for your RV patio, you need to consider your needs first. If you are only looking for something that people can wipe their feet on, get a small doormat to place in front of your RV entrance. You can use the same size of rug that you use in your home.

Now, if you want something bigger, one that is large enough to cover the area underneath your RV patio awning, get one that provides a foot or two of space from the edge of the awning and the outer wall of the RV.

It will provide you with a bit of space to move around. Just make sure that you are getting a grass-protecting grass rug so that you will not kill the grass underneath.

What is an RV Outdoor Rug?

This rug refers to that type, which is suitable for use outdoors. It means that the fibers do not absorb and retain moisture. It should also be easy to clean and quick to dry. Most of the time, outdoor rugs are made from synthetic, non-porous materials.

Some examples are vinyl and acrylic. Any highly water-resistant fiber can be used to make an outdoor rug.

Can You Put RV Outdoor Rug on Dirt?

Yes, you can. Outdoor rugs are almost impervious to dust and dirt. It means that these products will not cling onto the mat at all. If these items do, you just need to give them a quick rinse using a garden hose to bring them back to their original condition.

Does Outdoor Carpet Hold Water?

No. An outdoor carpet is designed in such a way that if water or any other fluid spilled on top, it would just pass through the perforations in the mat and into the ground below. It means you do not have to worry about taking the rug back inside when it suddenly rains outside.

You can just leave the rug underneath the patio. Once the rain stops, you can be sure that your RV patio rug will be perfectly dry.

How Do You Clean an RV Patio Mat?

So, you just came home after a weekend of outdoor camping, and your outdoor patio mat is dirty. How do you clean it properly?

First, find a place where you can screw in hooks. It will be where you can hang your rug. It is especially useful if you will be dealing with large rugs. Screw two hooks at roughly the same length as the carpet. Hang your carpet on the hooks using the loops or grommets in the corners.

Once the carpet is hanging, take a vacuum cleaner to it. Vacuum all the dust and larger pieces of debris from the carpet. A heavy-duty vacuum will do short work of most of the dust and dirt stuck between the mat’s fibers. It will help make the cleanup much easier. Alternatively, you can also beat the rug using an old tennis request.

After removing as much of the dust from the carpet as you can, take a garden hose and point it at your hanging carpet. It will knock off any of the remaining dirt. If you are using a synthetic fabric rug, just a good hosing down will be enough.

However, for an even deeper clean, you can use a proper rug cleaning detergent and brush the rug thoroughly and rinse it completely. Let the rug dry completely before rolling it up and storing it away. Even though a synthetic rug is resistant to mold and mildew, they can still grow if you let them.
